Just An Idea...

I'm just going to throw this out there as an idea, see how it sounds: Ovechkin on the left wing, Nylander at center, and Kozlov on the right wing.

Hmm, rolls right off the fingertips, doesn't it? That's some scary-good puck handling, playmaking ability on your top line. And the good news is, we've already got two of the three parts...

Come on, GMGM, git 'er done!

(In other news, Caps fans should rejoice - Jon Sim has officially left the Southeast Division! He just signed a 3-year deal with the Islanders, meaning we only have to see him 4 times a year now. Oh, say it softly, it sounds like singing...)

This is exactly what I was thinking.

Also, as much as I hate to say it, I wouldn't feel too bad about Alexei Yashin centering that line (they were the top line of the Russian Olympic team). I don't care for him personally, but I know GMGM is talking to him as a fallback option and that would be some scary good offensive potential.

It's true - you know, if Yashin were to play up to his potential and if the price tag wasn't so high he would be perfect to center Ovie. It's a big if, and the idea of him teaching Semin to be lazier is a little scary, but it wouldn't be the WORST thing.

I'm still holding out hope for Nylander, though - better attitude, cheaper, and just amazing to watch when he has the puck. The boy can dangle in the zone, that's for sure.

To answer your question..I was glad that Poti had a great year to parlay it into a good contract. He was one of our better dmen last year. I too can see Kozlov and Yashin reuniting.

And now you scared me with that Sim comment. It's bad enough that's all we did yesterday..

Nah, Sim's not scary. He just has this weird tendency to score against the Caps. A lot. Like all the time. No one seems to know why but I'm certainly not sorry to see him leave the division...he'll do enough damage against us with the Isles!

(Oh, and bite your tongue with that Yashin remark! :P)

So I read that Nylander signed with the Oilers but can't find it confirmed anywhere...that has to be a good thing right

Actually I don't think Yashin would be that expensive, seeing as he's getting payouts from the Isles for a while, and I didn't think teams were falling head over heels to get him.

I'd take him. They played well together at the Olympics, and maybe played with Ovie would motivate him a bit.

B: According to Ken over at Japers' Rink a deal has not been signed between Nylander and the Oilers, so yes, that's a good thing...for now. We'll see.

Murshawursha: I just think it's a lot to ask of Ovie to have to motivate Semin and Yashin - my only hope is that if he comes here he'll be motivated to play simply because of the work ethic already present in the room and the skill level of Ovie and Semin. That being said, if he comes down from his asking price of $3 mil/per year and they don't sign him to an Isles-esque deal, he may not be a bad fit.

Again I stress the word if...
