I Choo-Choo-Choose You

A Valentine to My Washington Capitals:

The course of true love never did run smooth. A few bumps in the road are to be expected - after all, no one is perfect. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. And of course, a stitch in time saves nine...whatever that means.

On this Valentine's Day I am again reminded of my undying love to you, my team. It's a love that can be difficult at times but can never be shaken. We've been through tough times before and we're sure to go through them again, but for better or worse you are the twenty men in my life. So it's only fair that I forgive you for your past indiscretions and take this opportunity to start anew.

And so I've written a little poem...

C is for the cheering that I do only for you

A is for the antics that you pull

P is for the paltry crowds you play to

I is for the ice that makes you fall

T is for the talent lurking within

A is for the Alexes, through streaks and slumps

L is for the leads you often blow

S is for the small but loyal fanbase


After all, you are the team I want to spend my evenings with. You are the team I want to laugh with and cry with, go through highs and lows with, grow old with. I want to be there when you finally raise the best trophy in all of sports in front of the DC faithful, and I'll be there when you find yourselves once again on the golf course in April...just like you've been there for me so many times before.
